British Summer Time 2026
UK clocks go forward one hour
(GMT+1/Zulu +1) on Sunday 29th March 2026 - British Summer Time
starts.
UK clocks go back one hour
(BST-1/DST -1) on Sunday 25th October 2026 - British Summer Time
ends.
Previously
UK317 hosted sessions exclusively for Microsoft FSX but the release of MS
FS2020 meant that to keep going UK317 would have to embrace other major
simulator programs, not just FSX. After
extensive testing it was decided to move UK317 to multiplayer, multiplatform,
operations at the start of 2022 via a connection client called JoinFS. This means that UK317 can accommodate ALL
major flight simulators MS FS2024, MS FS2020, FSX-Boxed, FSX-Steam, P3D (all
versions), and XPlane (all versions, on a single node
the UK317 Flight Sim Hub.
The UK317
Flight Sim Hub is made up of 4 groups: UK317, Western Air Academy, ATCMagic, and Heritage Flight. The UK317 Flight Sim Hub is hosted by Derek Haselden (AKA Derek317). Derek is a former aircraft maintenance
engineer with a City and Guilds certificate in aeronautics. Although not
a qualified pilot Derek has several hours of flight experience as a pilot and
many more hours as co-pilot, observer, navigator, and passenger. Along
with over 50 years of interest in aviation he has also played computer flight
simulations for over 40 years.
UK317 is
fortunate to have a core of regular players with good levels of experience both
as pilots and air traffic controllers. WAA is another UK based flight
simulator group, training academy and virtual airline founded by Owen Stringer
who has completed his PPL in the real world. The WAA team consists of many
enthusiastic flight simmers and real world pilots who can offer flying lessons
or you can fly for their airline.
Pooling
resources, UK317, WAA, ATCMagic and Heritage Flight
share the UK317 Flight Sim Hub server.
On Wednesday evenings UK317 often hosts a session with ATC
coverage. Fridays often see ad hoc
events, often centred on The Alps.
Pilots from all user groups fly together and are often joined by others. All these groups bring with them many years
of simulator experience, games with ATC, navigation exercises and other flight
disciplines, and some real-world aviation experience thrown in as well.
The
UK317 Flight Sim Hub provides a United Kingdom based multiplayer scenario with
occasional ATC coverage. UK317 has no specific theme other than free
flight in and around the UK. The UK317 Flight Sim Hub does not insist on
absolute precision and strict adherence to real world aviation rules. There is no pilot or ATC ranking
system. So long as fair play, good manners, flexibility, and common sense
prevail anyone can use UK317, either as pilot or controller, regardless of
ability, anywhere they want.

Flight Sim Hub - How to join
1. You will need to download and install JoinFS using the appropriate version to
match your simulator. (JoinFS is free to download and use.)
2. Once JoinFS has
been installed, open/start the programme.
Fill out the appropriate fields under 'File, Settings'. (Full
instructions for the use of JoinFS can be found on
their webpages.)
3. Start your flight simulator. (It should not matter which order you start, JoinFS or Simulator.)
4. Position yourself with your flight simulator
as required, avoid starting on a runway wherever possible. (Your flight simulator can be configured for
time, weather and other settings, as you see fit.)
5. On the JoinFS
interface there are 2 buttons: 'Simulator' connects your simulator to JoinFS;
'Network' connects your
computer and your simulator to the 'UK317 Flight Sim Hub'. (Look under 'View, Public Hubs'.)
6. If both buttons on the JoinFS
interface show green you have successfully connected to whatever hub you
selected.
7. For voice/comms you
will need to have a headset with microphone and you will need to download and
install Teamspeak3. (Teamspeak3 is free to download and use.)
8. Once you have downloaded and installed
Teamspeak3 you will need to connect to this channel: UK317/WAA
